The Laboratory of Biology and Applied Pharmacology (LBPA) seeks a new group leader. The LBPA is a joint research unit of the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris- Saclay and CNRS. Located within the vibrant University of Paris-Saclay community, it offers an exceptional environment to develop innovative projects within a dynamic academic atmosphere and industrial partnerships. The LBPA brings together molecular and cellular biologists, virologists, biophysicists, and structural biology experts who focus on infection (viral and bacterial), cancer and the dynamics of nucleic acids and nucleoprotein complexes.
We welcome emerging talents or established researchers to lead an interdisciplinary program at the intersection of biology, mathematics, and physics, focusing on fundamental molecular interactions within cells. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cancer, virology, bacteriology, cellular signalling, protein and nucleic acids dynamics (experimental or computational), and methodological advances in structural biology.
The successful applicant will be selected based on scientific excellence and potential to complement and synergise with existing research at LBPA. He/she will be expected to secure funding and a permanent position at CNRS or ENS-Paris Saclay. The LBPA will support the selected candidate through relevant programs such as ATIP-Avenir, “Chaire Professeur Junior”, FRM "amorçage", ANR or ERC.
The ENS Paris-Saclay building provides state-of-the-art facilities for research and teaching in biology. The candidate will have access to advanced cell culture (BSL2 and BSL3), optical imaging, structural and computational biology and biophysics. The LBPA has regular access to super-resolution microscopes, an NMR platform, X-ray crystallography beamlines (facilitated by its proximity to the Soleil synchrotron), cryo-electron microscopy and high-performance computing.
Submit your application (CV, motivation letter, a 1-page research summary, a 3-page project, and three references) to lbpa@ens-paris-saclay.fr
The application deadline is March 14, 2025.
Selected candidates will be invited to give a seminar and visit the LBPA in April 2025. An
independent scientific committee will evaluate shortlisted candidates. Inquiries: deprez@ens-paris-saclay.fr
